MRWD History Milestone

October 29, 1976
Roxas City Water District (RCWD) was formed by virtue of Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 35,
Series of 1976, pursuant to PD 198.

January 20, 1977
LWUA issued a Conditional Certificate of Conformance Number 32 to Roxas City Water District (RCWD).

April 18, 1988
Annexation of Panay and Ivisan Water System.

June 14, 1988
Renaming of RCWD to Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD) by virtue of Resolution No. 13, Series of 1988, signed by the regular Board of Directors.

March 1992
Conversion of all Water Districts into a Government Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCC).

October 1995
Completion of Metro Roxas Water Supply Systems Improvement and Expansion Project (MRWDSSIEP) Feasibility Study with an estimated cost of P 720M.

January 1999
Annexation of Panitan Water District.

February 22, 2000
JBIC thru LWUA granted MRWD P 710.102M loan to finance MRWDSSIEP Projects.

June 10, 2003
Completion of Japan Grant Assistance for Olotayan Island Water Supply Grassroots Project.Includes Water Barge and four (4) Reservoirs in the island.

December 9, 2004
Regular Board of MRWD passed Resolution No. 100 series of 2004 requesting LWUA for a full takeover.

March 22, 2005
LWUA implemented the full take-over of the MRWD.
May 8, 2007
Contract between MRWD and Municipality of Sigma to supply water through a single water meter classified as Bulk Connection.
August 3, 2007
Inauguration of the 30,000 m3 per day Water Treatment Plant led by her Excellency Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Senator Mar Roxas and Top LWUA Officials.
December 14, 2007
Signing of the Certificate of Final Acceptance of the 30,000 m3 per day Water Treatment Plant.

Final Fine Tuning of the WTP Automation. October 30, 2008Celebration of MRWD 32nd Anniversary and Blessing of the Training Center Building at the New WTP in Paslang, Panitan, Capiz with LWUA BOT Chairman Prospero A. Pichay, Jr., LWUA Administrator Orlando C. Hondrade, other Top LWUA Officials and concerned Local Officials gracing the occasion.
