Roxas CityThe Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD) in cooperation with the City Government of Roxas and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will spearhead the Panay River Clean Up Drive on March 22, 2012 in reference to the World Water Day Celebration. This activity themed, “Suba Ko… Palang-ga Ko…”, aims to foster environmental consciousness and solicit active support from the community for the advocacy of the Panay River’s protection and preservation. The event is set to start 6:30 am at the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center (TATC). The program will also include lectures on proper waste disposal; MRWD bottled water distribution; and Rally Parade.

The Panay River since then until now has proven to play a vital role to many of the Capiceños. It has served the people of Capiz in various ways. And undoubtedly it has contributed to its growth and progress. As such, it is imperative to make known of its value and importance through initiating measures that will prevent its detriment. Accordingly, the City of Roxas and lead agencies to the event earnestly invite and encourage the participation of the community both in the public and private sectors to take part in this worthwhile activity which seeks to translate the Panay River protection and preservation advocacy into a collective act as a gesture of the people’s social responsibility tantamount to its appreciation and gratitude for the Panay River.
